RED SHARKS: THE NEW ERA

From humble beginnings the legacy continues. Our Sharkies have fought the good fight and have been victorious in many a battle. Resilient, hardworking, determined are just some of the characteristics of the fine men that bear the banner of the Red Sharks. Over the years the Red Sharks have been a force to reckon with, but this is really no surprise as they have all worked hard for their place, bringing glory to a highly unappreciated sport and exposing the new generation to greatness.

The Red Sharks believe that as Rugby League develops in Jamaica, it is important that the growth of the club be maintained and we develop in such a way so as to attract more fans and players to the league. Therefore, the club has implemented several new initiatives in order to achieve this goal. Firstly, we have re-launched the club’s web page and the created fan group on facebook. The club has also changed our name from the Duhaney Park Sharks to the Duhaney Park Red Sharks, which is a reflection of the addition or rather re-addition of red into the club’s official colours, and our partnership with the Salford City Reds, a prominent Super League Club in the UK.

The S.W.A.G.s

They say behind “every man is a great woman” and it is no different with the Red Sharks. The most recent addition to the club is the S.W.A.Gs, (sharks wives and girlfriends). We kid you not. Officially announced in April 2010, the lady sharkies were dubbed the S.W.A.Gs with the tag line “no maties allowed!!!”. This arm of the club comprises of the committed wives and girlfriends of the sharks, experts in supporting and taking care of their sharkies.

The Red Sharks have only just begun our evolution; many more changes are yet to come. Our aim to be the greatest.

The school of Red Sharks grows stronger with time and with the relentless support of their S.W.A.G.s and other die hard supporters, the team will deliver on all fronts. All you other teams beware; a feeding frenzy is near!!!!
