The D. Park Red Sharks began their season on a high by downing the Olympic Angels 60-0 in a very entertaining match at the Sharks Den in Duhaney Park. Over 200 spectators were on hand to witness this comprehensive victory.

The first match in the opening round of the 2010 JRLA competition did not disappoint as there was a host of big hits and amazing runs in the first 20 minutes. It took both teams a while to settle into their respective game plans as the O. Angels especially through ex RedShark, Jade Harris, kept the defense honest with some big runs up the middle. National speedster Robert “Gary C” Rodney kept asking questions of the defense with some quick runs around the ruck area.

Once the RedSharks got settled however it was difficult for the O. Angels to contain them and the first try after 20 minutes to Ryan “National” Grant set the pace for a wonderful offensive display. Romain Campbell and Damion Coley started to put some serious pressure on the O. Angels midfield which they were never able to recover from. The RedSharks kick on from then with tries coming at regular intervals with the Angels struggling to keep up.

All in all it was a good display by both teams which was well appreciated by the crowd on hand. The RedSharks next assignment will be on June 10, 2010 against new comers GC Foster Angels.
